The credentials of new immigrants to Canada speak volumes of their education and skills, however many industries still view them as a risk.
Low income among new immigrants may be due to a lack of recognition of international experience and workers being placed in occupations that do not best suit their capabilities.
It is important, now more than ever, that the necessary steps are taken to ensure that immigrant workers gain access to employment targeted towards their skills and that this process occurs quickly.
With success in this process, immigrants to Canada will be recognized for their educational background and trade-related expertise, and over the next several years we can all look forward to a decrease in low income statistics that according to a Statistics Canada report, new immigrants have been battling since 2000.
