According to the latest report from Statistics Canada, unemployment in the country has dropped to a 33-year low of 6 per cent. This new rate fell below the predicted 6.1 per cent, which was the rate for June.
For the third consecutive month, wages in Canada also rose 3.7 per cent since the same time last year, while over 11, 000 new jobs were created in various sectors including the recently slowing manufacturing sector (gaining almost 20, 000 new jobs). Alberta continued its domination in job growth with over 13, 000 positions added.
The Bank of Montreal�s deputy chief economist noted the positive results of this latest financial report, telling customers that "�the Canadian labour market remains extremely healthy, with employment up 2.1% from a year ago and the jobless rate at a new multi-decade low."
