you have to stay here 24 months ska pwede na mag apply as a immigrant.

Hi w8lagi,

Interesting name Saan ka sa Canada? At least landed ka na so ibig sabihin it is just a matter of time bago makuha ng family mo ang mga visa nila. Ilan ang dependents mo?

Hi w8lagi,
What's the cause of  delay in the processing of your dependent's papers?  It's almost 24 months this coming January 2010.

agila, reading the post of w8lagi is kinda frustrating indeed! I don't know what's taking them so long to issue them their family's visa here in manila! we all hope that we be reunited with our loved ones soon...any news whatsoever?

Tricks,

Nothing new, always checking Ecas, checking mail, nothing from immigration, same with my wife, she's always checking her mail for her letter for  landing interview. Upon reading w8lagi's timeline , I counted 8 more months for me to be at the same stage with her family, so depressing.

Posted By: trickster
Date Posted: 01 Dec 2009 at 9:28am
yikes! I guess we can be on the same boat if I may put it that way! however, but my wife's ecas is already decision made and she's eagerly waiting for her landing interview letter...I don't know if it sounds good to be true?

Tricks,
I noticed w8lagi's timeline, since they started processing her application it's 4 yrs already. Her case might be the record holder of how slow they process the application .

w8lagi,
Thanks for sharing your timeline to us. Tricks is right your application is almost done.  Having your husband and kids there this christmas  is a possibility, not like ours , still no clear result in sight.

Hi w8lagi,

Paglilinaw lang. June 4, 2005 nagsimula ang processing mo? Tapos bumaba ang open work permit mo ng Dec 2008? Two and a half years? Ano work mo habang hinihintay mo ang OWP? Maraming salamat.

Hi Trickster,

No application sent yet. I just want to stay on top of the situation para maka pag prepare. Gathering ammo so to speak. Kaya puro basa lang ako. But I saw w8lagi's post and I got intrigued. So I want to learn from her experience. In your case, with a DM on our wife's ecas, you probably have already received your passport request.

Salamat nang marami w8lagi. So on target ka sa processing ng open work permit mo, 6 months.

How's your application going? We almost have the same timeline.  I forwarded our passports to embassy for visa stamping last Nov. 11, and up to now, we're still in the waiting game.  Hope to get what we want until next week.

I've been through with that long waiting game guys.  Patience is really a virtue.  I've even resigned from my great-paying job knowing that our visas should have arrived since May 2009 but to no avail.  Why did I resign? Because I have a friend with the same case like ours, they have had their medical only last January 2009, and their visas came in last April.  Yes, that fast, while for us, we have completed our medical reqt's since Sept 2008, and we've reached to a point that we were required to have the 2nd medical last June 2009...So, that's it. At least now, we're on our last step in the waiting game - PPR done-  prayerfully hoping for the visas TODAY!

w8lagi, don't worry coz your family's visa is already in the offing! I don't understand why the canadian embassy in manila is taking so long to finalize our cases when in fact under the spousal cases, they're processing it in just a jiffy! the medical is already done, the applicant in canada has there PR already and the dependents in the phils is really waiting for an eternity just to receive their visa...how on earth can you explain that?

Hi guys,
We cannot  get the real picture of what is happening with our applications , even if we call them every day we cannot get what we are asking for , coz call center agents are the one receiving calls, what they see in their PC monitor is what we will get. Immigration officers are shielded by this call center agents. If only they are transparent in processing our applications, no applicant will ever bother to call them for updates. Another thing is why they publish those Average Processing times, when in fact all our applications has exceeded the processing time they publish.
Well we cannot do anything about this, we have to wait when they will give us their approval.
Thanks Adz for sharing the status of your application, even if it adds frustration in my part, but I really have to face it, reality sometimes is so harsh to face.

Another week is coming up.  I strongly believe in the power of positive thinking with visualization.  Let's all visualize ourselves holding on to our passports with the stamped visa.  That make it more real for me.  And let's keep our fingers crossed, the long wait will be over very soon and we'll be with our loved ones in no time.  Happy weekdays ahead everyone.  Watch that postman or LBC guy knocking at our doors. I WANT THAT VISA NOW!!! YES NOW!!!  I'll keep you posted of any updates then.  Please do so, too everyone.  God speed....Wink

Agila2, don't worry. The processing flow is a case to case basis.  I have 4 kids, and that may be one of the possible reasons that make us wait longer than the others.  In your case, just continue praying. Patience is always a virtue.

adz, you're right patience is a virtue! the processing of our respective papers is a case to case basis so to speak. in my case, I've got no dependents but it took me 12 months to received my medical kit while others had it say in three or four months! I'm praying for a speedy processing of all our papers and we'll be able to be with our loved ones soon...

thanks job-seeker!

Tricks and agila2, in my case after our second medical, we had our PPR in 5 months.  Start on with your countdown dudes with the hope that it won't take that long for you to wait like ours.  Some people I knew who are already in Canada received their PPR's within 5 to six months, too.  Thanks guys for being with me in this waiting game.  Because of you, i know I am not alone in this kind of situation.  Somehow, I found comfort through this forum.

Hope to hear from others, too.  God speed.

know what? reading your post somewhat brings a little bit of sadness in me but deep inside I learn to take it in stride...imagine the laborious thing of waiting that much in the waiting game! I do hope that we're gonna receive our visa without reaching the above time frame!

While it saddens me knowing your timeline, I trust in the power of prayer  that everything will turn out what's best for all of us.

Sorry Tricks and Agila2, if posting my timeline has caused you sadness.  Agila2, you are right about the power of prayer.  I just really wish, CIC Manila could do something to expedite our applications.  As I've said earlier in my previous post, it's a case to case basis and don't get me wrong please. I didn't mean to discourage you or ruin your enthusiasm about that PPR.  In God's perfect timing, we can be with our love ones very very soon.  By the way, my husband told me once that there is an office in West Coast, Vancouver who gives assistance to the caregivers sponsoring their loved ones from the Phils.  This may help you guys for anything you wanted to know about your application process.  Your loved ones in Canada may want to call them for inquiries.   I'm not just so sure up to what extent of help can they provide the caregivers.
Again, my apologies for making you guys feel sad about my timeline.  God speed.

Hi adz,

West Coast Domestic Association - for the west coast, I mean BC.

Other associations are listed in CIC website:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/associations.asp - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/associations.asp

But it is CIC Manila who's taking a long time processing and making decisions . Anyway it is worth a try for Tricks' and Agila's wives to ask if they can do anything to facilitate processing the apps. Anyway, Tricks and Agila, you are in the homestretch guys. All the best.

adz, I'm also a firm believer in the power of prayer and I do believe in God's wonderful time, we'll be with our loved ones soon!  I cannot just comprehend the sheer agony of waiting that much since you've mentioned in your previous post that it's a case to case basis. what I'm harping about is the timeline which the manila embassy is processing our apps. if you read there processing time for dependents of LCP, it is peg at 15 months knowing that it is already inclusive with the medicals and the visa per se! sad to say, it's not that way! I guess prayers is the only antidote that we can turn to when we need a lift!

Hi everyone! No LBC guy knocking at my door yet.  My husband has just called West Coast and inquired on how long does embassy give back the passports with stamped visa - the answer: It may take 1 month, 2 months or even 3 months depending on the immigration officer handling our case.  I felt a bit disappointed, but I really don't want to ruin my sunny morning so I choose to believe that God will make a way that my kids and I will be reunited with my husband in Canada before my birthday, and that is on Dec. 31. I am still wondering why can't the embassy be more definite with their timelines.

W8lagi, any update yet?

Anybody here who benefited from the special immigration measure for those affected by typhoon Ondoy? Any info regarding this is very much welcome.
We tried to avail of this measure but we don't know if our application was included in those who qualified in this special measures.

i submitted my application before the bulletin about the special immigration measure came out.  then i called the call center after 2 weeks to avail of this measure.

my papers are now in process and my wife was called thru her celphone by the canadian embassy in manila.

im really not sure if i benefited but in my ECAS, it says "decision have been made" and "you will be contacted"....

timeline would be:

oct 7- my application recieved in Vegreville
nov 26 - CIC started to process my application

A week after my wife availed of the special measure for those affected by typhoon Ondoy. After that no more communication. So I am wondering if those who qualified were informed that they are one of those 400 plus who qualified. I hope somebody out there can enlighten us about this.

reading the article gives me a big sense of elations knowing that drastic steps are on the way to improve the nasty and abusive programs! I do hope that minister kenney, in the spirit of christmas, will also prioritize the dependents of the applicants in abroad to reduce or shorten the processing time so as to encourage family reunification!

Tricks,
That is what I am hoping for, speed up processing for those who have pending applications, you're right, in the spirit of christmas, they should let those caring for their young, disabled and their elderly, be reunited with their loved one's this christmas.

Hi (pasingit uli),

There are wonderful laws in place, contracts laid out perfectly, but sometimes the employer is not in compliance with what are stipulated in the contract, so what can the caregiver do? It is sometimes dance to the music the employer is playing or out you go look for a new employer, figuratively speaking. And because the caregiver just wants to get over with the 24 months in three years, so s/he just grins and bears it. there is always the threat of an employer terminating the caregiver's services. So sometimes, the laws are there to protect an employee but with the threat of being replaced by somebody else being ever present, the caregiver just suffers in silence. The only recourse is to pray that to find kind and honest employers.

Tricks, I think the held up is in the Philippines. Hopefully they do grant you your visas soon. All the best.

Tricks,
Any news? My friend who has the same timeline as yours, is almost done.  His wife is expecting her letter for her landing interview.  Her ECAS has been updated and stated that the letter was mailed last Dec 11.
As for me no news yet, I hope this week will also bring good news for my family. Positive thinking might help in this very long wait.

w8lagi,
The letter I got from the embassy did not mention anything regarding the processing time after we submit our passports. They just mentioned that our visa's are ready for issuance already, so we are just waiting that our long wait will be over soon.
I forgot to mention that aside from the passports they want a new NBI clearance for me and my son( who is 18 already). This two requirement are the one's they are waiting for our visa's to be issued.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
