I just sent out our application yesterday to Mississauga. Since we also live in Mississauga, I'm sure it will get there today. Fingers crossed for the longest wait of my life now!

Well, looks like I'll be joining this thread after all, no thanks to the postal service lol! My application spent 7 days rotting in a Mississauga processing center before they finally delivered it. A girl can dream!! I kept saying I wanted to be back with my husband before my 27th birthday (June 4th), but I think that's a bit over optimistic haha It's going to be a tough time for all of us in the upcoming months - but hopefully it will all go smoothly and QUICKLY for us all! I really really want to be back before our first wedding anniversary on September 23rd. That would be a wonderful celebration for him and I! I still haven't dared check the site - as I have no doubt it won't even be added yet haha I should really wait until March to check if the time line currently is 36 days. As much as I'd like to get my hopes up, the website says they're working on files received Jan. 31st. Mine got there on Feb. 11th, so I'm hoping that when they update the site next week they'll be working on us! For the last couple weeks the processing time has been increasing by 1 day each time, and the case date doesn't move too far either. This week it advanced by 6 days. http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/times/perm-fc.asp *Sigh* I guess I won't start getting anxious till they post that they're processing for our dates. :P

Tmason, thats ok its normal, they are currently working on the file recieved on JAN 31, so don't worry you would hear from them probably by next week or so. As now they are taking 37-38days to process sponsorship thingy. I know someone who submitted his file on the 2 or 3rd feb 2011, and he got a call or email on the 28feb or 01MAR from them regarding submitting some oder document such as option c print out and so, that means they might have started working on your file too.....if you submitted it on 4th feb 2011, so keep your eyes open for any emails or mails ya...goodluck :) !!

That's really thoughtful, Doiron! I sent my stuff to Mississigua. I don't know the date it was received. I was concerned I mailed everything to the wrong location since I thought the website was a bit vague about that, but seeing this forum and what others have done has put me more at ease. We currently both live in the US and my wife is from Canada, so I handled the US immigration stuff by myself. That's enough to cause anyone anxiety and make them nervous to go through an immigration procedure a second time!

In reading other posts in different forums it makes it easier to see each others' information and timeline. It is helping me to pass the time as well!!
tmason: We did the US immigration thing too back in '99, I would never venture to do it on my own, yikes!! We hired an attorney for that and since it was so successful that time we hired another attorney's office in Canada to help with this one. Kudos to you for doing it on your own!
My husband is Canadian and I am American, our 3 kids are now citizens of both countries! YAY! We just got their confirmation of Canadian citizenship on Monday.
 It took CPC - Sydney only 96 days to complete it, instead of the 4 - 10 months previously projected. We are just waiting on my PR stuff to go through. I seriously hope it goes through just as fast. Odds are probably not, because I didn't pay the RPRF up front and I didn't send my fingerprint clearance, missed it by a few days. I still check ECAS everyday though just in case it actually works, it will be a pleasant surprise that day!Here is an updated spreadsheet for you all! I'll keep it updated as we go along, nice to have company on this journey!!

I did my application entirely by myself, so I'm hoping all turns out well. I had a dream last night that my app got returned to me for the most minute thing that I had forgotten - to check a box of some sort where the answer was obviously stated elsewhere. Good thing it was just a dream!! @francohoosier: I had that happen when I did the immigration stuff for my wife to become a permanent resident in the US. In my case the worst that happened was that they asked for a piece of additional documentation or ask you to fix the mistake. I did the applications by myself this time around as well, so I'm expecting something like that to happen as part of the process. I'm sure everything will turn out okay for us :)

Hello Everyone! How are we all doing? I'm having a tough time right now. I am finding being away from my husband much harder this time around than any previous times.  The longest we have gone before was 3 months apart and I have only been away 5 weeks and it's just about killing me. I don't know whether it's because previous times I knew when I'd be going back and this time I have no clue....ICK! Trying to look on the positive side and keeping myself occupied, but it's horrible!! Nice to have other people who understand the feeling.  My husband and I talk on the phone twice a day and he keeps asking me if they have processed his part yet haha I have to keep bringing him down to earth and reminding him of the given time line! Stops me checking the progress like a madwoman haha  Awesome spreadsheet! My VO is London once Mississauga are finished with it! Hi Catt! I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through but I can say that I've been there! Sometimes I think that the immigration process involves too much "keeping people apart" in the quest to keep people together. Take full advantage of the technology that's around now. I didn't have much of it in like 2002-2003 when my wife and I were apart for months at a time and I spent a fortune on phone cards. Make sure you sent each other little messages, use Skype or webcams or Face Time for the iPhone, that sort of thing. I know that sending small messages to each other throughout the day helped my wife and me a lot to feel there was a constant connection. I think those separations made our relationship stronger. I don't think most people have to put as much effort into their relationships as immigrants do, so we value what we have because we really had to fight for it. It's just my opinion, though. Try to look on the bright side and you'll get through it :)

Really hoping it's good news for us all!!! I wasn't going to check ecas until the 14th...to fit in with the time line...glad I caved in again and checked. Oh, and for anyone who is wondering - when you go to check on ecas and it asks for your name/d.o.b etc...it only says decision made when using my husbands info - which I guess makes sense as he's the sponsor, but thought I'd let everyone know in case you're only trying out your info as the applicant and it's still not telling you it's being processed. Out of curiosity, what did you put on e-Cas as your identifying document? The only thing I have at this stage is the receipt form IMM5401, but it says it's unable to find any record when I enter both my and my husband's info with it. I used the receipt number too - as that's all I have. So, it will work eventually - won't be long now!! It probably won't have you in the system at all until they issue a decision I bet. Was your receipt under the sponsor's name? The receipt was under my name. Told Chris to keep his eyes open and to check the mail obsessively HAHA I have no doubt when it comes to the next Step that it won't be updated for ages...if not until the letter comes through haha I've been reading on other posts that they are told to allow 20 - 24 weeks for it to be updated on there! That's horrible! I am going to be very excited. Still have some niggling doubt about the decision they have come to...can't seem to shift it! I don't know why... Just written my huddy a letter and card for our 6 month wedding anniversary coming up on the 23rd of this month! Mississauga CPC is where you send your application initially. They assess the sponsor's eligibility to sponsor the applicant. Firstly - welcome to the February 2011 Class! I would say that as you're going for 2 weeks and you have work to return to, that it shouldn't be a problem. Obviously I don't know that for certain, but with the evidence of a job to go back to as well as the return flight - they don't have a lot to turn you around for. I won't be attempting to go back while it's being processed as I had problems with my last visit. I was going back for 6 months and got called into the immigration room at the airport (YVR) for further questioning and they commented that I'd spent a lot of time in Canada over the past few years (duh). I showed them my return flight and also that I had enough savings to support myself for the 6 months. He was a very nice immigration officer and after telling me he believed me to be genuine etc he stamped my passport. He did say that I might not have been so lucky if I'd had a different officer!! I was getting married during that 6 months, so would have been devastated had they turned me around!!! All worked out in the end though. We just came back from our honeymoon on Saturday night and flew into Pearson (Toronto). The IO commented at the time that he saw I had been in Canada a lot in the past few years, and that I'd had a few "run-ins" with Immigration. BUT, he said that he could see from my record that we were trying to do things "by the book". He gave me a stamp, and wished me well with my application's processing. I guess the point of my story here, is that as long as you are trying to do things the correct way (and with a job to return home to, a return ticket and a solid timeline of when you'll be leaving), that there's no reason that they should deny you entry. There's never any guarantees, but I would say that you're pretty safe. Hi all! Happy to join this thread. This message board was amazingly helpful in my ordeal of putting together a sponsorship app for my Irish common-law partner. We went to an immigration lawyer for advice but I did the app myself thanks to everyone here. Best of luck to you! My partner's living with me in Vancouver on a 1 year working holiday visa that started Sept 18. I lived with him in Dublin for 7 months before that. We sent in the app a few weeks after we got official common-law status. We're applying Outland via London and hoping he gets PR by Sept. The CIC site say That they are "working on applications received on February 8, 2011". That's only THREE days before the day they received mine, so I'm definitely starting to get angsty and anxious. Up until today I had just been going through my day to day without any extra thought of it. I'm still unable to log into the CIC site to check my status. That's wierd...I just spoke with a lady at CPC call centre. She told me that they are still working on January 31. 2011 applications. I said "wait a minute, it was updated yesterday to Feb 8th. 2011. She check her computer and told me no, we are working on January 31.So, what gives Canada Immigration? Playing head games with families? It reads...We are pleased to advice that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly the undertaking and the Application for Permanent Residence have been forwarded to the visa office in Manila for further processing. That's great news guys!! I'm still really pissed off right now...they made the decision on the 4th and still no f'in letter. Excuse the language...just really fed up now. Our application took 1 business day to get to them...and it's been a week now since they sent it and still nothing! I guess the only good thing is...providing it's good news..they should have already forwarded it by now!! Although, no doubt that will take ages too haha Had a really bad dream about it all last night....the waiting game is doing my head in. Cattadams - it does take a while, unfortunately. It took 2 weeks to get my kids AOR from Sydney. They sent it on 12/21 and I didn't get it until 1/4. I am still waiting to get their citizenship certificates sent to Los angeles embassy on Feb. 28 as of two days ago the embassy has not received them!.. When my husband phoned, they told he had been approved and that everything had been sent to London on the 4th. We got our letter in the mail today about the sponsorship being approved! Even though we already knew it since the ECAS update, it's still a major happy moment! I can't wait for everyone else to get theirs!

Well goodness! I got my decision on the same day as destanova, but still no letter! WOO HOOO!! what a lucky day, lets hope the luck stays with it for the rest of the application process. I got a decision made on my sponsorship application. I decided to check one last time before bed and sure enough it was there! So now I'll have great sleep tonight! yeah right! ;-)

| Good news, everyone! I got some mail too. My wife has met the eligibility requirements for a sponsor and our stuff is getting forwarded to Buffalo. I also overpaid by $550 and will be getting a refund! I hope it's in USD since the banks never want to exchange funds for me. |

Congrats Doiron and tmason!! I highly doubt it would be refunded in USD since you had to originally pay in CAD. Hello everyone!! Congratulations to all with good news!! I love coming here and checking on everyone's progress - cheers me up!! My husband still hasn't received the letter telling him about the decision! I think if he hadn't called them - I'd be completely insane by now haha Reading about these refunds - I am curious how anyone overpaid on the fees...because I would LOVE a refund cheque HAHA!  Talk about a bonus to already good news lol! I'm pretty sure we won't be getting any money back though - could use it to pay for the phonecards!! I'm trying to not check ecas every day, but proving more difficult than I thought! London have had my application for 10 days now.....waiting to see the 'In Process' update haha I have read that can take AGES though and it's possible that I'll have a letter/email before they even update that, so... My husband and my parents are positive that I am going to be back before my birthday on June 4th and as much as I would like to agree with them...I am trying to stay realistic and keep in mind their time lines etc haha Hate sounding like the party pooper in everyone's celebrating around me, just want to save the celebrating for when I am actually back with my husband with my PR in hand! Is anyone else going through this with people around them? I would love to be counting the days a long with them, but I have the processing time of 8 months stuck in my mind. I do try to think about the majority of stories I have read taking 4 months though... Wow, I'm talking a lot today hahaAnyone want to share their stories to pass some time? | Thanks! Regarding the overpayment, I must have just read and tallied the chart wrong on the website. I stand by my opinion that the information and the immigration process is excessive and complex. I don't think it's hard to make mistakes like that! |

Catt, my birthday is June 11th and my parents would really like me to come home for it, but I told them I'm not coming back to the states till I have my PR visa in hand! That way I can celebrate with everyone and pack up the rest of my stuff to move it up. I'd really love the chance to go back and see my friends and family this summer but with Buffalo at 11 months and my application's detour past the Québec gov't, I highly doubt I'll fall within that 4-month mark. In the worst case scenario, if I don't get PR by Sept. 19th, my work permit runs out and is non-renewable. Even if I found another way to stay in Canada, I'd still HAVE to go back to the states in November - for my best friend's wedding!! Woohooo kueball. We are waiting and still waiting. But knock on wood we will hear something this week or next. My girl just read up on the landing procedure... it is amazing all the things we are no longer taking to Canada. It's awesome that ecas is updated more quickly. I had read in another discussion forum that for February and March applicants that CIC (the thread was pertaining to buffalo, not sure if it includes all systems) is switching systems that allow for faster information to be scanned into ecas. If this is true, then it appears ecas will be updated more quickly for us and we won't have to wait 2 months to get an AOR letter for the information to be received. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!
@getushome: LOL!! We have done the same "cleaning" with our 3 children. We have sold so much that I have only 1/4 of the wardrobe I've had before and the house looks bare. :( We are now sitting on not so comfortable patio furniture. But I know it will all be worth it in the end to be closer to family. We are basically only taking a few personal items and clothes, almost everything will be replaced in Canada.
Question: for those sending items ahead of landing. I know we have to declare items accompanying and items to follow... but what if there are items sent ahead of landing do we have to list those as well?
Question for all: Does everyone plan on mailing their passports when requested or is anyone going to the VO to get the passport stamped? For us I know we plan on flying to buffalo to get the passport stamped and land the same day, we are headed for Toronto! I smile everytime I think about it!
woohoo!! Lawyer received Decision letter today, (3/21) saying my husband is approved to sponsor me and that our file has been transferred to Buffalo on (3/16). The sponsor part was the hardest for me because my husband lives with us in the USA. I figured it would be harder for us to prove relocation to Canada because he doesn't have a job waiting nor housing situated. But now that that part is over I am sure the rest will be a big piece of cake! LOL
