Because have you noted that no one is trying to sell you shoes? That most of the spam posts are gone, and if you report spam it is removed.
Very refreshing.

Hi - Pmm,
Not a good  idea to remove the entire thread just for few spams, I'd say its frustrating rather than "refreshing"

Hi,
I feel bad the other site is gone; we had some great information on it.  Who would do such a thing?

Here is a link to an older forum that was locked but can still access good information.  I hesitated giving it out incase it goes down too.

Hi Shampy...

I sent a case specific email inquiry last week on Dec. 23rd since my hubby's cell # was out of order for a few days and we had to let immig. know of an alternate number just in case. At the same time we inquired about the file status. We haven't heard back anything yet, but didn't expect to since it's the holidays.

Hey Sept, Get your wife to send the enquiry unless you are authorized by your wife to act on her behalf..I sent an enquiry using my wife's id but they never responded..

You have to be the original applicant, stating your name, address, phone number, birthdate, case file number and any other specifics and to email from the applicant's email address registered with immigration. If you are a LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE of your spouse with the signed form indicating such, then you have to scan the signed form and attach it to your email to let them know you are your spouse's legal representative. If you and your spouse do not have this form signed, then forget emailing on their behalf. Immigration will not acknowledge you.

I have a question not related to timeline but i hope you guys don't mind and can help me with this.

I am planing to apply for my wife's PR. I am in US and have canadaian PR and will me moving there next month and apply for my wife's PR. She is with me and will be going on Visitor Visa for now. Since she was in US for more then 6 months so we will need to get a Police clearance from FBI for her and that can take from 2-3 months. My question is if i apply for her with only indian police clearance will they return the application as incomplete or will keep it ask for missing document. this way my file will get in line. They say to submit all the documents up front. HAs anyone any experience with this type of situation or can provide some info then it will be greatly appriciated.

Hi Corpus,

You have to submit US police Clearance with the application or else they will return your application as incomplete..Your application will not go in the queue ... and providing police clearance for every country that an applicant has lived for 6 months or more is a requirement and has to be sub, itted with the application..
hope this answers your question..

Hi everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I just celebrated it with my husband on the phone again!  Anyway, this will all be over soon for all of us so keep your spirits up.

Indica,
case file number is what you get from Canada when you sponsor your spouse.  File number is what your spouse gets when they start sponsoring their permanent residence application to come to Canada.

If I log in with my case number, I see both his and my information.  If I log in with his immigration file number, I see only his status.  I hope this helps.

Client ID Number

You will find this number on official documents issued to you from a Citizenship and Immigration Canada office, Case Processing Centre or visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Client ID Number" has four numbers, a dash (-), and four more numbers. (Example: 0000-0000).

Immigration File Number

You will find this number on any official document issued to you from the visa office where you submitted your application. Your "Immigration File Number" starts with the letter "B", and is followed by nine numbers. (Example: B000000000).

Hi Sep 20,
Scorpio is right; if you send an enquiry using your wife's details they will not respond back as they will see your IP is not coming from India; SHE HAS TO SEND IT.

My husband and I sent an enquiry in the middle of the night (India time) while we were online together and I helped him do it BUT it had to be sent from him NOT me.  He received a reply back next day from them which was unusual because it usually takes longer according to others on this forum.

Sorry Indica, I am not sure if I was answering your question; I was assuming you are talking about Client ID number given by Mississauga to person sponsoring spouse and Immigration File Number given by ND to process permanent residence to Canada.  Case File number I have not heard of.

Hi July09

This is what I was asking for. Members of this forum have mentioned the term "case file number" and so I wanted to clarify if "Client ID" and "case file number" were same. It is the same thing. Your answer does clarify my doubt. Thanx.

My wife received her passport today. Yay. Big smile

I hope everyone receives get visa soon.

Here is my timeline:

Send Doc to Mississuaga  JULY 3th
Approved on AUG 05
ND START PROCESSING Aug 21
Additional Doc request OCT 20(dated oct 13)[asked additional relationship proof, money support, my short stay in INDIA etc)
PP Request DEC 9
Visa issued JAN 02, 2010

Total time seems just about 6 months...

I have a question if anyone knows the answer.  She didn't get any goods to follow forms with the visa.  IS she suppose to get forms like that or can she list stuff she is bringing on any blank page?

Hi nlohchab,
Congrats..If they haven't asked for any other document then just send the passport..make sure if you have any expired passport send that as well and attach a copy of the passport request letter and a covering letter..
As far as timing is concerned it can be anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks..however it can take longer than that as well as we have seen in some cases..

Congratulations nlohchab and broodfaun that is great news!!!

I have a question for you both; did either of you receive your pictures back and if so when?

nlohchab, my husband sent his passport and they received it on Dec 9th BUT hopefully the holidays is the main reason for this delay.  Also, he worked outside India for years so they need to do background check.

Does anyone on this forum know what more background check they do... we sent police clearance, letter from company when he left his job, work visa cancellation and background information for the position he had including his resume.

Anyways, I would really appreciate you letting me know if you guys got all your pictures back.

Congratulations again... it is good to see things moving.

Why don't you call 1 888 242‑2100 on Monday and ask them so you will know for sure about the form and at the same time ask them anything else you might need to know on this final step; I am sure they will be very happy to help you as it will be a refreshing call for them compared to the questions they normally get.

Sorry, I have one more question... actually 2 (I just thought of another)

Did they send your documents back when they asked you to send more in Oct?

Have you been checking status on line to see if decision was made and if yes has it been updated?

Sorry, so many questions... the more info we share the more it helps the rest of us.

Yes, they returned the Photographs and marriage card etc.
Online status is still the same, not updated yet. Still showing that processing starts on this.... date.

I initially included only 20 pics with application.  They were not satisfied and asked more pics with guest attendance.  Thus I send about 100 pics when requested in oct.  Most of the doc were returned.  I think most of the stuff from october were returned as it contained emails communication transcript, sms, pictures, western union receipt, phone, reason why my stay was short etc.  Most our documents were returned.

The status showed decision is made.

I was rather surprised they returned our passport with visa within 3 weeks (specially all the holidays we had).

I will probably go and pick her up in Feb.   She can use my extra allowance suitcase( 3 for her and 1 for me).LOL

Thank you both for sharing your information.

What I am still trying to understand is when exactly they returned your documents.

Broodfaun, yours were sent back when...with the passport.  That is what I am hoping.

nlohchab were yours sent back with the ppr request or separately.

Thank you again!

When did you get refused? After an interview? If so, when did they tell you (i.e. face to face or in a letter sent 2 months later?). At what point in the initial stage did you get an interview request (if you had one)?

Well i use to post on the old forum ....anyways just got my passport back with visa on 29th december. I had to get another medical done, becasue the old one had expired. New Delhi first recieved my papers on April 1, so it did take around 9-10 months after ND recieved all my papers.
I was told by the immigration officer (great guy, always returned my call and emails) that my security/background check took almost 5 months because i live in canada and i applied through new delhi. The RCMP is really busy (high case load) and they are taking appro 6 months or so for checks. He also said, if i was residing in india the process wouldve finished way sooner.

Anyways all's well that ends well. Now i have to gather information on how to drive to the border and get the last leg of process done there. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

thanks

p.s- my wife sponsored me.

Wow, AGM... reading your time line makes me feel angry and frustrated for all the pain and suffering you and your spouse must have experienced all this time. It is ridiculous to make a human being be apart from their spouse for that long. I don't understand the logic behind it all and the long time between any action from immigration in your case. Did you have to move to India in the interim?

Hi - Kandareen,

For the past five years we have been experiencing severe hardship, physical and mental stress. There is no specific reason behind long time between each action. I suppose this is how their system works.  I've been doing short term contract Jobs for almost 4 years now so that I can spend time with my family here in India.  Since 2006 I've made 10 round trips to India plus had to hire reputed attorney for 2 rounds of hearing. Now I am financially exhausted and just fed up with this broken CIC system.

Hope year 2010 will bring us some good news.

Regards

AGM

What border are you looking at going to; if it is Buffalo I suggest you don't go to Lewiston.  Peace and Rainbow bridge are both good options.  If you call CIC 1 888 242‑2100, they could best advise you what to bring and your next step.

I wish you all the best and a prosperous future.

Hello sanjayk and AGM, thank you for joining and sharing your experiences here with us.  You are both obviously more familiar with the process and any information you feel you can add would be most appreciated.

I have some questions that come to mind:
One member here had passport request, no documents returned and than they still asked for a piece document...any thoughts.

My husband got a call Dec 8th saying he was approved, gave him his immigration file number and asked him to send passport (ND received passport Dec 9th) but they are still holding on to all our documents at this stage... any thoughts.

Finally, did you notice any slow down in ND processing at the end of 2008; I am hoping there will be a rush of visa's approved this month because of the back log of applications still coming in each day.  I say this because on the old forum, timeline for beginning of 2009 was quick (3 months from Mississauga to receiving passport) up to May 2009...then it started to slow down gradually to a trickle.

Any observations or trends you have observed would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gang...

I heard back from our case specific inquiry that we emailed to ND on Dec. 23. We needed to let them know that my hubby's cell phone would be off for a couple of days back then, giving an alternate number. I wrote to them as his legal representative with a copy of a hand signed letter by me (same as email) and a copy of the signed legal rep. form. I took the same opportunity to ask the status of his case. We just heard back from them today and this is all they wrote:
