What can we do to help new immigrant find a job?
Many of the new immigrants are asking the same questions, they all share the same difficulties when they arrive to Canada.
Very hard to rent an apartment, to find a job and to obtain a driver license it takes months which makes their life very hard.
And that’s not all if we add the health insurance and as we all know their health card will be activated 90 days after they arrive to Canada.
I remember it was not easy for me and my family.

I met many new immigrants during the past few days, they all complained about not being able to find a job or the right job. Most of them have been looking for a job for over 6 months without any luck. Can anyone suggest or try to suggest something to help them?

Hi Liza,

Obtaining a job in Canada is a process and one needs to remain patient and consistent. I know it can be very discouraging, especially in the beginning and in this economy. However, there are many avenues to look at when searching for jobs.

I put together a web page resource specifically which is focused in helping new immigrants find jobs in the GTA. There is a job search and interview preparation guide as well. You can access this web page by http://www.squidoo.com/helping-new-immigrants-find-jobs-in-greater-toronto-area - Clicking Here .

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask.

Take care,
AJ

An Employment Authorization Document is issued and it is required as proof that a work visa holder has the legal right to work in the canada.

Venezuelan engineer builds new life for family in Alberta

Professional job opportunities, high security standards, and a society with solid values are three things Stanley Manjarres and his family enjoy most about living in Alberta. Stanley chose to come to Calgary in August 2007 while his wife, Ghislaine, and their three daughters remained in Venezuela. A year later, when Stanley had secured full-time employment in Calgary and was ready for them to make the move, Ghislaine and two of their daughters joined him. Their eldest daughter, Pamela, chose to stay in Venezuela where she is studying electrical engineering.

Before moving to Canada, Stanley encourages others to research the job market and the training programs that are available to newcomers. He also stresses the importance of family support. “For me, it was important to come to Alberta on my own and prepare for my family to join me. It was lonely to be without them during that time, but it helped that I met many amazing people, including many newcomers like me,” he said. “Having a supportive family is essential when making such a big move. Our transition has been successful in large part because of the support of my wife and my daughters. Their support and their happiness mean everything to me.”

A successful story which everyone will not have. Your family gives you  confidence  when  hard times comes. Workers working hard In abroad without having the family around them will desperately feel the Importance of a family. Due to the Immigration rules & visa issues ,can`t bring their family near them.

I guess you  have to be qualified for Arranged Employment under the Federal Skilled Worker program or for a Skilled Worker category of one of the Provincial Nomination Programs. Both of these options will entitle you to fast-track Canadian Immigration. This is for a full-time permanent job offer.

Some 334,203 immigrants arrived in the United States in 1886, the year of the statue's dedication. A Cuban revolutionary, Jose Marti, wrote: "Irishmen, Poles, Italians, Czechs, Germans freed from tyranny or want--all hail the monument of Liberty because to them it seems to incarnate their own uplifting."

The immigrants who would catch a glimpse of the statue would mainly come from eastern and southern Europe.

In 1900, 14 percent of the American population was foreign born, compared to 8 percent a century later. Passports were unnecessary and the cost of crossing the Atlantic was just $10 in steerage.

European immigration to the United States greatly increased after the Civil War, reaching 5.2 million in the 1880s then surging to 8.2 million in the first decade of the 20th century. Between 1882 and 1914, approximately 20 million immigrants came to the United States. In 1907 alone, 1.285 million arrived. By 1900, New York City had as many Irish residents as Dublin. It had more Italians than any city outside Rome and more Poles than any city except Warsaw. It had more Jews than any other city in the world, as well as sizeable numbers of Slavs, Lithuanians, Chinese, and Scandinavians.

Unlike earlier immigrants, who mainly came from northern and western Europe, the "new immigrants" came largely from southern and eastern Europe. Largely Catholic and Jewish in religion, the new immigrants came from the Balkans, Italy, Poland, and Russia.

Well... if they have had previously checked for vacancies before moving then.. at least it could be easy for them... but, they can still find a job like everyone in the community... just be more patient in handling the situation... pray hard and work according to your prayers as well.... though immigration lawyers helps in assisting the applicants, looking for jobs is not included in most of their services.. as far as I can remember.... why should we care about immigrants finding work?

what is wrong with you people. Worry about yourself and your own. Give them the jobs and there wont be any for the real canadians.

That is a big part in why our gov't needs to stop allowing people to come to Canada. And expect they just do health care. we need to employ our own people. The saying '' well we give the immigrants the jobs cdns dont want'' is a bunch of BS.

I know lots of people that would be a health care aid. immigrants are given a free ride for the most part and we are suppose to feel sorry for them?

My family worked and assisted in Canada to allow the future to get health care. Immigrants should have to wait 10 years for that.
