Hi, my work permit is expiring in August 2010. I have a new LMO and would like to apply for an extension of my work permit with the same employer.

I can hand in my application now, however, I have two trips planned before August. Both of the trips would be during the visa renewal process.

Is it ok to leave Canada and come back while the extension application is in process?
Or should I apply for the extension at the port of entry? I'm from Germany and don't require a visa.
