I took the test this morning. It was pretty easy but you have to study. I checked over my test. I think I got 20/20. Also, during interview I received an RQ because I was denied citizenship the first time applied in 2007. So she said I have 30 days to hand it in. So if I hand it in now, the judge will see it in 2 weeks anyway. Good Luck All.! Hopefully oath soon for everyone!

Be optimistic and prepare for the hearing! What does it mean if you ask and inquire then they will delay your case.

Good luck!

this is what it says" Your file is awaiting a hearing with a citizenship judge. At this time, we are unable to provide you with a specifice time of when this will occur. " than towards the end it says " please refrain from contacting our office during this time. We also ask that you do not send multiple inquiries to our office as it will cause additional delays: in between it gives you an option if you want to withdraw,,

Don't take it "unique" as for inquiries issue, it's just an automated info "template" also for the withdraw option, just a template letter.
I remeber my AOR when i was immigrant applicant, it contains the same notes in this regard.
Hope you succeed this time

I personally believe that going to your local MP's office is your best bet.  If it is a liberal they will undoubtly send letters to the Minister of Citizenship to information and so forth.  They will be able to contact the local CIC office directly and get you more information.  I don't think hiring a lawyer is going to do you anygood.  From what I have heard is that you can only see the Judge one on one.

This is my first post. It has been 11 months since I submitted my RQ and I haven't received anything from windsor office yet. My application timeline is:

File tranferred to windsor office: Feb 28, 2009

Test: April 1,2009

Received RQ: April 27,2009

Submitted RQ: May 8,2009

Can anyone share any information about how long I have to wait, its frustrating.

Sunshine, I took my test January 6th, I submitted RQ Jan 12 but they did send me a letter stating that I am on a line for waiting for a hearing to see the judge...You didnt receive a letter like that?

They told me in the letter that they dont know how long it will take til i get a hearing with her. And that I shouldnt keep calling their office to ask cuz if I do it will cause further delays. You should go to the office of Brian Masse MP and ask them to call the windsor immigration office to see what happened with your file. Karen helped me last time to know my status of my application when I applied the first time. This is my second application.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I didn't receive any letter from them...after waiting for so long I mailed a letter to windsor office in dec 2009  about the status of my application and I provided them with my email id and home number, so a lady called me from windsor office and she said it takes about 12-18 months to process the RQ. She said they are working on other applications that are before me in the line and just told me to wait.

Posted By: ParadiseCrystalz

From my own experience, my RQ didn't take that long and it was more recent than yours. I suggest maybe you can go to Brian Masse's Office and see what else can be going on. My RQ didnt take long, but what is taking long now is seeing the judge. When I went for test , the officer told me it's between 12-24 month wait!!:(

I have no idea...I applied 2 months after 1095 days presence. When I had my test, the lady officer looked at my passport and asked few questions about the US visa I had on my passport but didn't say anything about RQ. Infact she said you will get letter for the oath within 2 months.

Posted By: Sunshine_01
Date Posted: 25 Mar 2010 at 4:36pm
I was living in US before I immigrated to Canada, she was asking about that visa but that visa expired before I moved to Canada and then she also asked me if I have permanant residence for US. I said "No, I don't"

What kind of questions she asked you when you had your interview with her??

Posted By: ParadiseCrystalz
Date Posted: 25 Mar 2010 at 4:45pm
The first time I applied, I had made a mistake on my application. I had sent them my application with 0 absent days which in fact i was absent a few times. I handed that in by accident so on test day she told me " u were never absent "? I said yes I was then she showed me my application! i was in shock how can I make such a mistake!...then I told her where I was and when and she looked at my passport and wrote a few notes. I didnt know why at the time but the notes were for me to see the judge. It took only 2 months to see the judge in 2008. I had RQ oct 2008 then december 2008 I saw her. She denied me because I had applied too soon. And she probably thought I was lying about how I applied by accident with my mistakes. Also, the very last long trip I took was 6 months. to visit my husband cuz his sponsorship was taking forever!!!

The second time, I took my exam January 6th 2010. The officer looked at the computer, and she looked at my passport. Then she said ok there's a 12-24 wait to see the judge. I told her I already saw the judge last time and why do I have to see her again? She told me last time I can reapply if i got denied again. Then she saw that I sponsored my husband and I had a baby last july. She wrote that down and said ok. These things will help your case. I said ok. So i didnt think I would have to see the judge then I get that letter in the mail that the officer reviewed my RQ but the judge wanted to see me to finalize my application. :( ahhh such a long wait for a piece of paper...

Thats unbelievable for you how they would think you probably went back to the states when the proof was right infront of them. They are being very very strict these days especially for people that don't deserve to be treated this way for telling the truth. Windsor office is so unfair..

Thanks Sunshine It means alot. The reason we are waiting so long to see her is because so many people are asked to see the judge. So thats why we have to wait in a long line...in 2008 it wasnt long at all...

Sunshine,

I went to Brian Masse Office and they told me that they can do nothing and I have to wait. Since judge only works part-time it will take me 18+ months to see her cuz she only takes few cases/hearings a week.

Sunshine_01,

It's been since Jan 12 since my RQ.....I keep thinking about my citizenship and how it's going to take forever!! It's giving me stress. When I try not to think about it, I end up remembering again. I'm glad that you're still following this forum. At least we can both get an idea of how long getting a hearing will take...

Here to join the discussion. Paradise Crystalz, why is your application taking so long?

I took my test January 6th,2010 and they gave me an RQ. Then she told me I would have to see the judge which would take about 12-24 months:(...So they sent me a letter in February that I have to wait and not to ask the office about it or else it would delay it more...So, I have no idea why she wants to see me. This is my second time applying. First time I applied I saw the judge but I had applied too soon so she denied me....But this time i had 1122 days when I applied and she still wants to see me I dont know why?

Ye i heard it was a lot harder to apply if you got denied before. But if you have enough days, there shouldn't be a problem. Just be patient, i'm sure it will eventually work out

just received a letter to appear for hearing with judge..took exactly 18 months after RQ submission....any suggestions on what type of questions I should prepare for????  I have nothing to hide and I do meet all the requirements for citizenship but still don't know what to expect from judge.

Hey Sunshine!

Congrats! Finally. I knew you would get it soon. I'm sure she just wants to make sure you live in canada. Maybe cuz of that USA visa you had. Some people break their visas. Anyway she seems like she picks on little things which is crazy. She might ask if you are working. If you are take your parsnips and take even more proof with u like bank statements and bills. You waited 18 months for this so be prepared just in case. I wish you luck. Then my hearing will be next July.

hi ParadiseCrystalz

Had my hearing with the judge yesterday....it was a judge from toronto not the windsor judge (don't know why??). He was nice...he did go through all the RQ documents that I submitted and I didn't feel anything negative from him. In the end, he said I will receive a letter after at least 6 weeks.

I took my citizenship test on October 25, 2010 at Windsor. I heard normal Oath taking ceremony time is 4-6weeks after the test, but yet to receive any invitation letter or some other notice for RQ. Could this delay because of failure in test or some other problem? Or anyone have an idea how much is the normal time period for oath after test in Windsor?
