Can I enter before LMO & Visa application?

Hi, I'm (Australian) waiting for my boss' to apply for a LMO, and then do the paperwork for my temporary work visa application. 
They want me to start work in April 2012 (seasonal summer management position).

My question is, am I able to enter Canada on a visitor visa at any point during the application process?
Can I be in Canada when they apply for the LMO, and can I be in Canada when the application is submitted...plus it looks like it is faster to send the application in here (Australia)...is that possible to do while I'm in Canada on a visitor visa?
