Applying for WP at POE

Hello everybody, hopefully somebody can chime in with their experience and help me out.
I've just received a positive LMO and I'm evaluating the possibility of applying for a WP at the port of entry, since I'm citizen of a passport visa exempt country. My question is: what happens if the officer for whatever reason decides to not process my application right there and then? Do I get refused entry into Canada?
Is there anything I can do to minimize this risk?
