Hello fellows
one of my friend is in a situation, as he is planning to come to canada... and he has been informed that he will be with held at the Karachi Airport of Pakistan. following are the details he landed in canada in may 2007 and returned back to pakistan in july 2007 his PR is going to expire in june 2012. will he be withheld by the FIA for not travelling to canada. (if yes) what should he do... and will he be permitted to enter into canada given that he leaves pakistan somehow after satisfying the agency... Regards, |

why would he be held by FIA? Is he in trouble?
(If not, I think they just want bribe/money, that's all) A valid passport and PR Card entitles the holder to travel to Canada and PR's have the right to enter Canada. But you better remind your friend that he should ensure he meets the residency obligations of PR status. A PR must live in Canada for at least 2 years in every 5 year period. He better get on a flight back to Canada as soon as possible.... |

Thanks for a quick reply He is not in trouble or havnt committed any legal offence...
Since he is planning to come back thats why he is just doing home work...
Though he had breached tha 2 years rule...
And someone had reported him the cases that people are withheld at Karachi Airport for not travelling to Toronto...
Which is a cause of concern

If he wants to avoid the people in Karachi, he can always take a flight out of Islamabad or Lahore.

I think there is no need to worry if he did nothing wrong. That is why it is better to cooperate with the authorities. This is for the good of both parties, you and the whole community.
