Here is my situation.
I am a Canadian and I have been dating an American for 3 years now. We are nearing the point where we want to be closer geographically. We plan on getting married, but not in the imminent future. He does not have a job lined up, nor any post-secondary education. He does however have the funds to sustain himself for a while, as well free accommodation provided by my family. Considering these circumstances, how realistic is it that he would be approved for a work visa? |

Hi
1. Nil 2. He requires an employer in Canada who is willing to advertise the position for 2 weeks on the job bank. Then apply to HRSDC for an approved Labour Market Opinion which states that there are no Canadians/PRs available for the job and that the foreign worker has skills not available from the applicants. Unless he has a skill in demand in Canada, there is little chance. 3. If he is under 30 he can get an open 6 month work permit through swap. It can't be extended though. see: http://www.swap.ca/in_eng/us_index.aspx |

Thank you. Although they are not the answers I was hoping for, they do reaffirm my assumptions. I suppose that just means he has to show me a ring soon ;).
