There is also visitors to Canada insurance from etfs:

I know one person who was visiting temporarily from Brazil and found this insurance less expensive than purchasing travel insurance before he left home.

New Immigrants need at least 3 months of private insurance before OHIP kicks in. For my parents, the best one I found was www.safevisit.ca completed online, got my policy by email, fast process and cheap too!Big smile

So what happens after the 3 months? Does your last insurance carrier just drop your plan or will they switch you to an american plan? I am going on my second month!

Why an American plan if you are in Canada. You apply for the Provincial Medical Service Plan.
