Hi there everyone,

I was a member of the older immigration forum however its blocked and so am here.  I sponsored my husband for immigration in January/feb 2009 and we recieved first stage approval in july 2009 and since then we are still waiting.  My husband has not recieved an interview or any letter/notice regarding permanant residence.  They have not requested any extra things as our application was full and complete and so i guess whats why he recieved first stage approval and open work permit but no permanant residence yet.

in the older immigration forum, many people in our time line and also one of my personal friends got interviews and permanant residence end of last year and it appears my husband is the only one in that group still waiting. it took them 1 year for the exact same process (inland immigration, canada feb 2009).

i am wondering is there anyone who applied in jan/feb of 2009 in land still waiting for permanant residence? and why is it taking soo long? What can i do to speed this process up? people to call? help!

every time we call CIC they say security check or that they dont know and lately i cant even get through. this past two weeks we have called 4 times and everytime the lines are busy and we never get to speak toanyone. does it take one year to do that?!?! my husband is a medical doctor and has no criminal record.  he married me, a canadian citizen, also a doctor and no criminal record. i pay my taxes am a good citizen. he's a good citizen. what more do they want? its so frustrating because without permanant residence, he's stuck in canada without being able to go back to his home country (libya) to visit his mother and family. plus without it he cant apply to specialist medical programs in canada and finding work as a doctor is very hard also without being a resident or canadian. right now he's at home studying, taking classes to improve his english and just waiting for the immigration.

would be nice to hear something from you guys. thanks so much.

May God help us all!

by the way. we got married in july 2008 and right now are living in mississauga, ontario .

we were never notified that our file was moved to another office. we sent our applications to the proper inland office in vergeville, AB.

hope that helps.

hi rema, i'm sorry to hear that you are still in limbo.... have you checked your e-cas recently? if so, what does it say there? i've read here that the best time to call is as soon as the office opens, i think on a wednesday? someone will correct me if that is wrong. I know that inland applications do take longer but i'm surprised you are going on a year with no news. you said you were never notified of your file being moved; was it moved, or is this your assumption? i'm not sure how easy it would be to get an answer out of your local office if it was in fact moved, as i've not pursued that before. our file is still probably sitting on someone's desk unopened..... :-P

i hope you hear something soon, the waiting really is the hardest part.

Hi there newsom, thanks so much for ur post.

yes i check ecas all the time and its been the same "decision made" since one year.  Thats when we recieved first stage approval.

our file was not moved. (as per my knowledge) if they did they would notify us and from what i learned on this forum that its a good thing when its not moved. i dont know.

my husband and i have sent mail and fax letters recently requesting updated info. so we'll see what happens.

yeah the wait is the horrible part. my husband feels trapped :( however i keep reminding him that its for the best and to just be patient.  we take trips in canada to keep us entertained lol. however we are waiting for a carribean cruise or trip out of canada!!

anyway good luck to you!
