cancellation of spousal sponsorship

i am a foreign national, and had applied for canada PR in 2014. Instead of landing in Canada, I got married last year and applied for spousal sponsorship. I have received the passport submission letter from CIC. However I do not wish to sponsor my spouse any more as there are problems in the marriage. Is there any way I could cancel the sponsorship at this stage? will it affect my PR status? 
Kindly help, I just have 2 days to inform CIC regarding the change.
