Multiple entry visa for my mom

 Hello guys! My sister and I  planning to bring our mom this summer to visit us in Canada. We applied back in 2007 for a one time entry visa and didnt have any problems.
 During her stay we would like to take her to Mexico for 1 week vacation, therefore we will need to apply for a multi entrance visa. Basically, the question is whether we have a higher chance of getting refused if applying for multi entrance?

 Any comments and suggestions will be much appreciated!
