CIC has updated the cit application processing times. It appears the processing time for non routine has not changed: it remains 36 months.
Although they have greatly reduced the number of RQ's, finger prints and document requests, it seems they have not made any effort to reduce the processing time for this group of applicants. The processing time for routine applicants has more than halved, which is telling. Quarter million PRs became citizens last year: it seems the long haul cases will remain in low priority. Sad news indeed. How many 2011/2012 applicants are still here? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/cit-processing.asp

Yes, looks like "routine" applications are being rushed through prior to the election, while "non-routine" will wait. I know people who are nine months post test and no oath, no additional document requests other than for CBSA report made at the test--just radio silence. It doesn't take nine months to review a CBSA report and determine if the person should go to oath or more docs are needed. The only explanation is that nobody has touched the file in nine months, while other applicants who applied later are being rushed through. This is not fair. You cant stop processing someone's file just because someone else's is easier, so you can bump up your approval numbers before an election. Its all the more frustrating in this particular case in that the damn CBSA report was obtained prior to application and sent in with the original application. They acted like they never even saw it, meaning they didn't bother to even read the entire application. Still, they said it would only take 48 hours to get it on their own. 9 months later nothing........ what a joke! ENJOY VOTING 2014 APPLICANTS! I know a few 2012 and 2013 people who won't have the pleasure.
