Hello all, My wife and I have a PR to Canada and will arrive in a month's time in Toronto airport. We have no friends or relatives in Canada. I had a couple of questions on arrival to Canada. 1. In the immigration form to be submitted at the port of entry in Canada, there is a requirement to provide details of a friend willing to assist in Canada. I wanted to find out if it is mandatory and if yes, what options can we use in case we don't have any contacts in Canada. 2. What kind of documents need to be produced for proof of funds? 3. For receiving the PR card, a postal address is required to be provided. Since we do not have any contacts in Canada, what are the options. 4. Also, I read in this forum that some guest families assisted in settling process for immigrants. Can anyone provide details on this? |

Hi,
1. No - this isn't mandatory. 2. Information about acceptable forms of proof of funds (and amount required) is posted here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp 3. Where do you plan to live when you arrive? Presumably you have made plans to rent an aparetment? If so, this is the address you should provide. 4. I am not familiar with this program but hopefully someone else will be able to comment. |

scylla: Thank you very much. It answers a lot of questions. We plan to spend a week in Toronto and then move to Vancouver, where we would like to settle down.
