Mom's medical complete a year ago...

Hi all, 
I hope someone can help me answer this. My mom's passport has been with the immigration office in Beijing since March, 2012. She completed her medical back in Feb, 2012. 

We are okay with continue to wait but would like to be able to get her passport back. At this point, since she does not have her passport, she cannot travel to visit us or go out of the country. She is stuck in China. I have emailed the Beijing office but have only gotten the usual generic email about being patient. 

Is there any way to contact them and get further information or get them to release my mom's passport?

	Did you try the on-line query form? I think they are doing some background check. My friend's parents experienced the same. And, later on they were even asked for an interview. Hope you can get a reply from Beijing soon.
