Spousal Sponsorship - changing profession

My spouse recently sponsored me. We have not received notification that our application has been processed, so it is still in an infant phase. My spouse is thinking about changing his profession. If he does this, will he need to notify immigration and change his profession on the application? Also, will this slow down the application process?

No he doesn't have to inform CIC about his change in jobs.
