My mother is 85 years old and currently lives in Iran. She had Permanent Residence status in Canada. Her PR was just revoked by the immigration section of Canadian embassy in Iran because she had failed to meet one of her residency obligations (the 730 days rule). We appealed the case to the embassy; it was rejected. Now I want to appeal the decision to Immigration Appeals Division. She has no prior criminal record here or in Iran, nor any other complications. She only failed to be in Canada the required number of days. I have two questions: 1-Should I hire a lawyer to appeal her case on “humanitarian compassionate” grounds? Or, should I prepare the appeal myself? 2-I would like to know how much the appeal would cost me (roughly)? I know that the cost associated with a case depends on factors such as the complexity of the case and so on. However, I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate?
cheers

At the very least, a consultation with a lawyer is a good idea.
I cannot offer much beyond suggesting seeing a lawyer forthwith. |

Bureaucracy is what bureaucracy does, or When in doubt, follow the instructions. Otherwise, follow the instructions.
BTW: Not an expert, not a Can. lawyer, never worked in immigration |
