If my son inherits my business, can he immigrate to Canada? Or if I gift it to him prior to my passing so he can support me as I become ill? I have terminal cancer. He's a US citizen. Thanks.

Hi
1. No. He would still have to qualify under one of the Immigration programs. |

Hi
1. Unlikely to be successful, as the grandson won't be able to work in the business, without a work permit, and there is nothing stopping the grandma in selling the business if she is unable to carry on. |

If you are a Canadian citizen, as your son, he might be a Canadian citizen depending on various factors.
If you are a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident of Canada and if your son is not a Canadian citizen, you might be able to sponsor him under the family class, regardless of his age, if you, as the sponsor, do not have a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece, who is a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident or has an ongoing application for permanent residence in Canada. You and your son would also have to meet other specific requirements in order to qualify.
