Redeagle: So if you were in my shoes would you state that you resided in Canada in 2007 and first half of 2008 with your partner to demonstrate that your relationship is genuine and that you returned to the UK for 6 months before returning to Canada to get married and apply for PR?

I totaly agree with Redeagle, give them only what they ask for and what will help your case, nothing more nothing less. Be honest, when answering the questions they ask.

Yes as long as you have had 1 year and then been seperated for less that 1 year after that you qualify as common law. In your case, I think you are married?, you dont need to even qualify for any period, you just need to show that you are a genuine couple. Let them ask the questions.
