Hi All, I have a quick question, if someone is on implied status because he applied for inland processing, can he apply for a new or extend his visa so he can go out Canada and come back? Thanks,

First of all, simply applying for PR via the inland process does not give you "implied status". If you had valid temporary status at the time that you submitted your PR application, and you submitted with that application an application to extend your temporary status, then you have "implied status". Otherwise, you don't and your inland application will likely be transferred from Vegreville to your local CIC office for first stage assessment. This can add significant delays to your timeline.
As far as coming and going from Canada while an inland ap is in process . . . bad idea. There is never any guarantee that a foreign national will be admitted to Canada and, other than a work or study permit, most temporary status documents are invalidated when you leave. Your inland PR ap has a residency requirement - you have to be in Canada with your sponsor in order to be approved. If you leave the country and aren't allowed back in, you forfeit your inland application and have to start all over again from outside. Edited by RobsLuv - 11 Jan 2012 at 7:02pm |
