Hello there,
In sponsoring spouse, there's question no. 3 in Sponsorship Evaluation (IMM5481) 04-2008 about the Net Personal Income. My company is offering us matching benefits for RSSP (instead of a retirement plan). So, for every $ you put it, they will match (upto a limit, of course). So, say my gross income is $1100. $150 gets deducted for Federal Tax, EI gets $50, CPP gets $70 and RSSP gets $80 (and the company adds in another $80) As a result, my net pay of the pay cheque is a bit less, than would be the case, if I had choosen NOT to contribute to RSSP. So, to calculate my Net Income for IMM5481, can I take into account this RSSP deductions (since its going into my RSSP), although this is NOT reflected as "Net Pay" on the pay slip? Thanks! |

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They don't really care how much money you make. What they care about is that you are not on social assistance (welfare). There is no minimum income requirement for spousal sponsorship as far as I know.
