My PR Visa has expiry date of 15/07/2010. I am planning to enter Canada on 7/7/2010 and come back on 21/07/2010 and get my PR Card posted to me by my freinds.
Please advise if there is any issue in travelling so close to expiry date. Will immigration officer will have any problem me trtavelling so close to expiry date and leaving withing 15 days.
Can anyone on this forum foresee and issues in this case ?
Thanks
Mike

Mike69,

If I were you, I would land now rather than at the last moment, even if you enter and leave in like 1-2 days. Your friends can courier you the card and you can move later on.
Remember if for whatever reason (airport strike, airline strike, or weather-related issues, etc) you are unable to get to Canada then your PR visa will expire and it will not be extended.....

So don't take the risk, if you're serious about Canadian PR status. I suggest you do your landing right away.....it's just 1 air ticket....

You cannot get a 100% accurate record, but you can request two things via ATIP from the CBSA:

- Traveler History
This is for an individual and provides the CBSA records of entries into Canada.  There is a single nationwide database for this, so individual ports of entry and dates are not necessary.  CBSA stores records for six years prior (possibly plus the current year).

- Highway Traveler History
This is for a vehicle and provides the CBSA records for a vehicle entering into Canada.  This is maintained at each port of entry, so you need to specify which POEs you want searched.  You will also need to include a copy of the vehicle registration with your ATIP request, along with permission/consent from the vehicle's owner, if the owner is not the requester.

You can also request copes of your customs declaration forms and API/PNR data for specific dates and locations.  The difference from the above two is that you must have the exact date.

I just submitted a ATIP request for the first two for myself, and spoke with the ATIP analyst today to revise the request.  Once I get the results, I will post the full process.

Thanks,
Peter
