Secured job with approved papers

I have been offered to work when I get approved by immigration canada in the mail. I applied for an open work permit when I sent my application for PR. I am wondering after I get my first stage approval for the PR processing, how long till my work permit becomes effective?

	Generally validity period is written on the letter. I think (if i am not wrong) it is valid for six months.
