Hello
Given the very long processing times for PR card renewals here in Canada, they do have a way for those who might need it urgently to apply by showing proof of their travel plans. I seem to be in a situation where I need to travel after my card expires. I was wondering if, (1) I need to provide more than just a ticket with receipt, i.e., do I need to include any other supporting documentation explaining the urgency of my travel? I don't want them to say, oh your reason for travel is not mentioned so we are unable to decide. (2) Secondly, my travel ticket is one-way. My return plans are uncertain therefore I'll be purchasing a one-way on my way back. My company pays for it so I don't have to worry too much. Would sending in a one-way paid ticket be a problem? Would it raise any red flags for them? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks |

From what I've seen, you just need your itinerary/ticket & prrof of payment -- as well as writing URGENT - PROOF OF TRAVEL INCLUDED on the outside of the envelope (check the CIC page) What remains the gray area is just how fast they process the URGENT requests. In other words, how long to they take to open the file? Do they do it right away? Anyone have any experience with this?
