Same employer different position - how?

Hello everyone,

I have been looking for the answer to this online but can't really find any info. I hope someone here might be able to help.

I have a work permit with my current employer for a specific position inside the company. I recently got an offer from another department inside the same company and want to accept that offer.

Does anyone know what needs to be done if I want to change positions within the same company?
I don't know if it matters but the new position is related somewhat to my previous one. It is a more advanced spot than what I was doing before. You could call it a promotion if it wasn't for a different department.

Does the company have to do an LMO? Most importantly, after the LMO, do I have to do all the paperwork again or can I go to a port of entry and change my work permit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
