It is completely beyond everybody's understanding as to what CIC's plans are about the backlog applications. Is CIC just keeping us in indefinite wait without any decision at all ? Is this kind of action ever noticeable anywhere in a civilized world ? It is just ridiculous , no sane mind can understand this .

Canada needs chefs and cooks, not lawyers or teachers – CIC

Canada, 10th November: As per the latest updated immigration qualifications list by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), there is an increased requirement for cooks and chefs in Canada.

And the list has excluded teachers, lawyers and other important high-skilled professionals.

So, there is absolutely no requirement for immigrant lawyers in Canada. And the same holds true to immigrant teachers since Canada does not have any jobs even for those teachers who have received their education and training from Canadian universities.

The fact is that there are no takers for getting the services of teachers with Canadian degrees(and training) even without paying any fees. And if any immigrant teacher still wants to move to Canada, then he should rather be prepared for taking other jobs including that of cleaners etc.

Meanwhile, the Canada immigration department has its doors wide open for high-skilled chef or cook. Cooks and chefs are treated with great respect in Canada and are very well paid to afford a quality living in Canada since they don’t need to depend on tips for their earning as seems to be case with chefs and cooks in Africa.

And its not just the chefs and cooks themselves who are welcomed to immigrate to Canada as per the latest

Canada immigration rules, even their family members getting sponsorship are invited to join them in this friendly nation. The new Canada immigration policy will result in fast immigration of family sponsorships in Canada.
The latest changes in Canada immigration policy are in tune with the current skills in great demand in Canada while excluding skills that are no longer needed by Canada.

Canada has many high-skilled professionals driving taxis or involved in jobs that are far below their educational qualification or expertise. Hence, Canada wants to invite only those immigrants who can gain adequate jobs after immigrating here.

Canada is, indeed, a multicultural nation which is regarded to be immigrant-friendly. Its unlike the nations like Germany where immigrants not following German ways are threatened with dire consequences.

Canada offers attractive pay packages to help new immigrants settle and integrate successfully in this nation. The year 2011 will see arrival of nearly 265,000 new immigrants coming to the nation to live and work here

But cooks and chefs alone may not fulfil Canada's longer term population needs.

Immigrants important for Canada-Study

Canada, 12th November: Findings of a latest study has highlighted the important role played by immigrants in boosting the global competitiveness of Canada.

According to a recent research by CIC(Citizenship and Immigration Canada) published in October 2010, immigrants are crucial for the economy of Canada and hence the government must recognise and accept the value of Canada immigration in making Canada more innovative.

The report also brings forth the important relationship between innovation and immigration.

According to Michelle Downie, the lead author of the study titled ‘Immigrants as Innovators:Boosting Canada’s Global Competitiveness’, immigrants always look for better ways, which happens to be the very core of innovation.

After a comprehensive study of various innovation dimensions at business, research, culture sector, global commerce, individual immigrant, national ecnomy and international economy, it was found that immigrants exhibit a positve effect on innovation performance resulting in direct benefits to the Canadian economy, Downie asserts.

The research comprising of 60 pages by Canada immigration department states that Canada can work towards developing the underlying innovative capabilities of new immigrants for harnessing the advantages of innovation driven by immigrants.

Canada has recently witnessed its position slipping from ninth to tenth as per the recent Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011 published by World Economic Forum.

Canada, however, does have the capability to rise up to a higher position due to its abundant natural resources, low density of population at 34 million people and being the second biggest territorial mass internationally.

Canada welcomes highest number of immigrants every year to its workforce. The year 2006 saw a total of 251,511 immigrants coming to Canada under Canada skilled immigration program.

And still, there is room for increased number of immigrants in Canada each year.

As per the estimates by CBC(Conference Board of Canada), an independent research organisation in the country, Canada needs around 375,000 immigrants each year for maintaining a stability in its workforce and for sustainig the economic development of the nation.

It has been noticed that immigrants face numerous obstacles that seem to inhibit their potential for performing upto their optimum levels seriously affecting their innovative activities in the economy.

And the fact that immigrants face delays in recognition of their foreign credentials as well as experiences further results in underutilization of their underlying skills.

Hence, there is an urgent need for employers to send a strong message for immigrants that Canada values immigrant innovators who are of great value to the Canada economy.

New survey reveals attitudes of Canadians towards immigration

Canada, 15th November: A latest survey by Canada government has revealed interesting attitued of Canadians towards Canada immigration.

As per the survey by Ekos Research and Associates, these new trends will help in redesigning the Canada immigration laws.

The Government-commissioned survey maitains that the enthusiasm of Canadians for allowing more immigrants certainly has some limits.

The survey also cautioned that Canadians are quite less likely to feel that Canada immigration upholds and strengthens culture of Canadians than they were almost a decade ago. Around 36 percent of Canadians survey respondents said they feel immigration does increase rate of joblessness among Canadians.

Around 48 percent of Canadians considered immigration bad for their neighborhood. Around 54 percent of Canadians stated that present number of immigrants moving to Canada is absolutely appropriate.

Meanwhile, 23 percent stated they feel allowing immigrants from various cultures will make Canada culture more strong.

Nonetheless, the survey reinstated the fact that majorty of Canadians(nearly 71 percent) do consider immigration in the positive spirit barring a few giving conflicted views on Canada immigration.

Last week, the Canadian immigration minister Jason Kenney had stated about the decision of Canadian government for maintaining the previous year’s levels of immigration in Canada. This statement was a reflection of the government survey on attitudes of Canadians towards immigration. Last year, Canada had maintained the immigration limit between 240,000 and 265,000.

Speaking about the survey findings, Kenney asserted that Canadians are quite supportive of immigration while adding that they(Canadians) do not want to have any more increases in the annual Canada immigration levels.

Kenney stressed on the role on immigrants in Canada in the coming times especially when the native labor pool declines.

The report by the Ekos Research and Associates was delivered in April this year but was made public only recently.

The research was based on interviews of 1,530 adults including 300 new Canadians conducted through telephone.

The report reiterated that the Canadians’ views favor effect of immigration in Canada on the national economy rather than the immigration’s impact on Canadian culture.

The survey reveals that when asked about religious deiversity and immigration, Canadians expressed high insecurity levels on Canadian culture.

Canada defies trend, attracts more immigrants

Canada, 15th November: Canadian province Manitoba has won power to invite increasing number of immigrants resulting in making itself a hub of Punjabi youth.

And this is primarily due to the fact that while other Western nations seem to be caught in the web of anti-immigrant vibes, Winnipeg(Manitoba) distinguishes itself by being an immigrant-friendly province for the semi-skilled immigrant workers.

Canada happens to be among the few nations with high immigrants per capita and that too, without any fuss.

As per Manitoba’s immigration minister Jennifer Howard, he did expect some backlash when he assumed charged of his present portfolio, however, he feels elated that on the contrary, the common notion among Manitoba natives is to find ways to bring in more immigrants into this Canadian province.

Nearly 600 new immigrants in this province learn that they can look forward to enjoying the right to live, liberty and security in Manitoba.

So, its love and friendly behaviour towards immigrants coming to this Canadian town, admits 34-year-old new immigrant and a procurement professional from Nigeria. Olusegun Daodu stated that Manitoba is indeed true to its license plates saying ‘Friendly Manitoba’ where its difficult to find arrogance towards new immigrants.

Since the 1960s when Canada did two major changes in its immigration system, including creation of a points system that gives preference to highly skilled foreigner workers and abolishing rules that did not allow non-whites into the nation. As a result, Canada has become home to increasing number of minorities hailing from nations like India, China and the Philippines.

The current immigration rules allow Canada to invite almost twice the number of immigrants over its population as compared to the US.

Canada is interested in its growth and development and the nation’s points system helps the Canadians understand that the current number of newcomers allowed into the nation are in accordance with the requirements of the country.

Moreover, in Canada, it can be politically risky to demonstrate against immigration since 20 percent of Canadians happen to be foreign-born and get voting righs and Canada citizenship quite early.

No doubt, Canada does have some sort of complaints against the newcomers for increasing housing costs and congestion especially in towns including Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto. But, that does not take away from Canada its friendly and multicultural title.
