For electronic notes -a month. They will pull your information within a week from your request, and will then diligently wait for the 30 allotted days before emailing it back. Copy of the physical file will likely take longer.

Looks like Edmonton has yet another excuse for more delay.

CIC office is apparently on the 2nd floor (suite 240) while the pipe break happened on the 4th. I hope none of the physical files have been destroyed.

Finally!! My wife and I got invited for a written test.

We sent you a notice on March 13, 2014 to appear and write the citizenship test on April 17, 2014 at 8:30 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

Nothing on snail mail yet, this is just on the web. I checked it last night it wasn't there yet.
Yes at last there is movement in our local office and it's Sunday that I got my ECAS updated.

Time to dust off my discover magazine and practice apnatoronto online test.

God is Great!

dnspk, our timelines are almost identical:

Applied: August 14, 2012
Letter sent: August 14, 2012 (it was mid October, actually)
In Process: March 15, 2013
File Transferred to local office - September 2013, according to the CIC telephone agent.

I've decided I am not going to celebrate if and when I get to take the citizenship oath. No family, friends, photographs - nothing. In and out, as quick as possible. I earned my right to citizenship almost two years ago. To jerk us around for so long is simply unacceptable.

Hi bambino,
I understand your frustration. But there is only so much we can do.
Hang in there, with the way things are going, we might receive our test invitation in a month or two.
I also would like to get it done by this summer. Hopefully, Edmonton CIC will be faster in processing the files.
Regards,

I had my oath on saturday, march 15. The oath was scheduled at 10am, but we were asked to report by 9am. 70 people had taken oath and we were done by 11am. It was certainly special and a wonderful feeling.

However, it didn't go smoothly for me. They had messed up my name in the certificate. I had done legal name change prior to my application and had requested the certificate in the new name (only a small change in the first name). However, CIC was wise enough to not paying attention to that. They had issued the certificate in my old name that always had in their file. I talked to the CIC officer at the end of the event and explained the situation. At first, she tried to tell me that CIC has certain requirements... blah... blah... Then she found that all the required papers are already in the application package. She apologised few times for that on behalf of CIC and told me that they will issue me a new certificate with the proper name and call me in about 6 weeks to pick up the certificate.

This is a weird situation for me as I had to return my citizenship certificate (meaning I can't apply for passport) and my PR card is not valid any more (she had let me keep the PR card with me for a peace of mind in the condition that I will return that when I will pick up the correct certificate). Therefore, I can't travel internationally in at least for a couple of months (I can leave Canada, but coming back will be an issue).

Though with hiccups, my journey for citizenship is almost towards it's end. All the best to everybody awaiting their citizenship.

Hey,
Just as an update..someone in the other forum mentioned that he/she had the test on April 3 whose app was received in Nov 2012. That is completely out of sequence. Now, we can't even predict when we will be receiving our test notifications.
