Hi, " proof that if you received any social assistance payments while in Canada have been repaid in full. Confirmation from the appropriate provincial office will be sufficient. " Which office deals with such things in Toronto??? |

your question is confusing.
if a person went to social assistance while their undertaking is still in effect, then they have defaulted and will have to reimburse the money that was paid.if that money has been repaid, then you need to contact the office that handled the social assistance payments and they will provide you with the proof that they have been reimbursed. once you have that proof, then there will ne problem.if you send in your application without getting that proof,CIC also do their own checking and will ask if you are in default or if it has been repaid, you can get the letter and include it with your application if it makes you feel better, but not recommended.hope this helps, though i am not sure if that was your question.

are you sponsoring someone? you cannot sponsor someone while on social assistance
if you were receiving social assistance social assistance before your sponsorship application then it doesn't have to be repaid
if you sent an application to sponsor someone while on social assistance those monies would have to be repaid,
sending proof that the monies were repaid is WISE!

no the guy is not sponsoring anyone The guy is being sponsored by his wife and imm sent him a request to pay for ARC and to prove that he repaid social assistance[while he was in Canada]; So, the imm asks for Proof that social assistance was repaid Thus my questions are: - does he need the letter[he never took social assistance] ? - if he needs one WHERE/what office does he get such letter from ? thanks |

if they asked him for proof that he has repaid social assistance; then at some point he must have collected some benefits.if there was an error, meaning if he never took welfare, then he need to contact ministry of community and social services office.he can also just walk into any local welfare office and provide his identification and they will be able to tell and give him a letter.

Immigration is perhaps saying IF YOU HAD ASSISTANCE?
IF HE DID NOT CLAIM then dont worry simply say that you did not claim. was it OWP ? Ontario works program ? (google search OWP ) may be the WIFE, sponsor, claimed FOR THE PERSON being sponsored? If you made a claim then you would have letters..? when my wife sponsored me I got the OWP to write a letter to me to clearly verify that (we cleared some overpayments)that we do not owe them any more money and that we were not on any assistance from them. |
