Hi there,

My wife is sponsoring her father but doesn't have enough income, so I am a co-signer on the application. However, the problem is that I work as an IT contractor, my company is incorporated. I have the T4s, the Option-C for last year, however, what I am confused about is whether I am considered self-employed or considered salaried? Can I just have my accountant prepare a "Statement of Business Activities" for the Jan 1, 2010 to July 19, 2010 period? Or should I draft a letter stating how much salary I earn from my own corporation? It would look funny writing a letter for myself, as I am the only owner/employee there.

Please let me know, thanks.

Give them what you have.  Your T4's, and Option-C, as well as your company's most recent corporate tax return.  Write them a cover letter stating that you own the company, how long you have been established, and indicate your average annual salary.
