let the time takes it own course, right now u apply for the immigration, let the parent visa come up in the later stage, concenterate on ur immigration, and with the time you may get ways to bring him to canada. i see soooo many elderly guys specially punjabis in canada. but all are not so sentimental for their fathers lik u buddy, they force them to work like distributing leaflets etc. i admire your feelings for ur pop buddy

parents are not eligible. but afre 2 years of ur stay in canada you can file immigration for him from canada itself. second option is u get a visitor visa for him as i did for my mom..she is still here in canada, but for that you will have to submit an invitation lettter for him from canada so that he could apply for the same , but if he is over 70 then medical insurance is mandatory which comes to around 1000 cad dor 4 months.     i can understand your feelings buddy. all the best to u.                         ...

Then you don't emigrate, it is simple as that. Your father is not your dependent under the Act, so can't be included in your application. You will have to decide, what is more important to you, your father or your emigration.
