Hi - My husband's stepfather is a Canadian citizen. He lived in the States for a long time where he met my husband's mother (an American) and they got married when my husband was 8 years old or so. My husband's biological father gave up parental rights and his step-father officially adopted him - so his step-father's name is on his birth certificate. My husband's parents moved back to Canada about 10 years ago and we've never lived there.
We'd like my husband to get his Canadian citizenship certificate but I'm wondering if he is eligible since he was adopted - or if the fact that his Canadian father is on his birth certificate would get beyond all that. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone else had a similar situation? Thanks!
