Hi!

I need help with deciphering this requirement:

Who should be included in the sponsorship application? The application should include: • The principal applicant who is being sponsored as a parent or grandparent, • The principal applicant’s spouse or common-law partner • The principal applicant’s children from current and previous relationships whether they are coming to Canada or not. All the family members whether accompanying or not the principal applicant to Canada must be declared on the application and be examined. If family members are not examined, it is generally not possible to sponsor them at a later date. This includes children in the custody of a former spouse or common-law partner. In addition, failure to declare family members on the application and having them examined goes against the duty to provide truthful and accurate information, and may cause them to be found inadmissible to Canada.

So I've got a 43 years old brother who is not a dependent child and whom I'm not sponsoring with this application. The application is for my Mom.

Should I still provide information about him - my brother?

Thanks !

1. Your mother has to include him on her IMM 5406 additional family members. He is not included in the sponsorship.

Could you please help me with this one too:

Since my brother is estranged, neither I nor my parents maintain a relationship with him. So we can provide some info about him based on our collective recollections of events, but we cannot find him to sign the document.

I'm planning on attaching a Statutory Declaration explaining the case. I'm also planning on leaving the doc. about him unsigned, since I don't think I can sign it.

Could somebody correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks a lot!

1. He doesn't sign anything. Just put the information that you have on him in the 5406 and put unknown for the other.
