Thanks depenabill, I did the PR application myself when I lived in the UK, pretty straight forward, had no issues. I guess I just have to wait it out. Can't help but be concerned because I honestly thought it was straight forward to renew the card on my side. Like you said, if I have nothing of concern then I won't worry about it. Just frustrating because I was planning a week in the UK to see my parents in August

There are many reasons why a PR card renewal application is sent for Secondary Review. Some are randomly selected for SR.

There are so many reasons it is impossible to make a stab at guessing which ones might be at play in your situation. If you have no reason to worry about any misrepresentations made in the past and have been in Canada as much as you say, you should have nothing to worry about.

Among reasons it can be something old. If you used a consultant or representative in the past, for example, if that consultant or representative has been investigated then that individual's clients are far more likely to get investigated. But again, if you have never made any misrepresentation and are in compliance with the PR RO, there should be no reason to worry.

In the past 5 and a half years I have been outside Canada for a maximum of only 18 days and cant understand why its being passed for a second review? I have a completely clean record and been working since I got here. Has anyone ever had their file go for secondary review and if so how long did it take after you were notified did you receive the renewed PR card?
Bureaucracy is what bureaucracy does, or When in doubt, follow the instructions. Otherwise, follow the instructions.
