I am trying to fill the Caips form.. n have a few questions
My application is in Buffalo and my husband will be sending the Caips req since he is in Canada.
Do we need to fill both columns "Access to Information" and "Privacy Act" or either of those?
if either then which of those 2 should we fill?
What does “Examine copies of the records in a government office” under Access to Information and Privacy Act..mean?
Isin't it same asreceive copies of records?
I have filled the other form to authorize him that he can receive the info of my file.

Assuming he's the sponsor, he has to do it under ATIA as he's requesting information about someone else (you, the applicant). You have to include the authorization form. Privacy act can only be used to request info about yourself, and since you're not in Canada, you can't file that.
Examine copies in a government office means just that, you get to go to an office and look at what they have. That's not what you want - just get them to send you a copy, as they'll mail it to you. |

another quick question....
in the authorization form (authority to release personal info to desginated individual)... i m giving authorization that my husband can access the info of my application...
according to me only i have to sign since i m the applicant.... but there is another column for signature of spouse if applicable.. does this column needs to be signed by my husband?
or what does this column mean?

It is probably refuring to the fact that your spouse could in some cases be a co-signer, not sure though, havnt seen the sheet.

"Will this matter a year from now?"
Probably, this is gonna be a one hell of a long journey. |

I think it went well, thanks. I posted the details here:
http://www.immigration.ca/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1722&title=interview I wish we could have at least had a yes/no answer, but I guess I'll just have to keep waiting. 1 more week isn't too bad. Especially considering my timeline is actually quite impressive after looking at some other member's. |
