OBryan - I read the letter that came with the COPRs this morning. Info is correct. I have a question for those who have received COPR: In the cover letter on about page 3, it makes reference to the expiry date of the visa/COPR which is stated on IMM5688 (going from memory) and section 33 on I think IMM5929 (or close to that-don't member the IMM # exactly). Did you guys receive anything else aside from the passports, receipts, COPR and cover letter? Did you receive any IMM forms?

Just wondering if I should have the IMM forms that they said the expiry date is also on.

OB - my son is 10 in grade 5. An mi haffi seh hallelujah - thank you Lord fi sparing us the GSAT experience. whew!

Morning all

Mellie, one of the IMM# is the visa (1346) and the other is the COPR (5688). If you look at the bottom you will see that number on just the COPR, but I don't think it's anywhere on the visa.

Yay you, no GSAT to contend with Big smile.

Sorry for the delay. In fact, it has been a while since I have been on. Real busy with work but I often think of my forum family. Lets see if I can address some of the qquestions and concerns:

  • So you are thinking of leaving Canada before PR card. While it may be cheaper to take photos in Jamaica, THe Canadian Photographers knows the exact specification and also has a stampt at the rear of the photo that says "taken in Canada' well maybe not that word but i hope you get the jist. I was a bit worried that CAC sent me a mail to an address in Canada and I respond with a picture taken outside Canada! just thinking! it may not be an issue since there is no restriction on travel even before you get PR card. just something to think about.
  • Yes I got a PRTD and the process was quite simple. took about a week (but I am not in Jamaica so factor in fedex time to and from me to CHC. The questions on residency requirement being met is not really applicable to you because you have not yet breach or could possibly breach this until 2 years after landing really. the rule says you should be in Canada for 2 of a 5 years period. (or maybe it is 3 years) either way you have nothing to worry about. I just inserted my travel and landing date and that was all.
  • Nothing on the Humanitarian section from  what I remeber sinc that doesnt apply

Things are going OK. I am heading up on the 21st but I just have some unfinished business still but my wife is having a "none-of-it" attitude towards me leaving Canada again for any duration. LOL

Will update forum since i will ha ve time on my hands after December 21.

just saying!

I see, thanks for the heads-up. The travel date you inserted was the expected upcoming date and did they require proof of such?

It's ironic that they sent that letter though since there's somewhere in one of their official documents or on their website (don't remember exactly) where they "recommend" you don't start uprooting yourself for the move until you have been officially granted PR status (essentially meaning at least landing and then returning to liquidate and wrap up). If they sent the cards in more of a timely manner now this wouldn't really be a big issue though, would it. Oh well...
