* this is a duplicate post, originally from the June/July outland thread, but I felt it useful here, too.
Spousal sponsorship, Buffalo NY. Application sent: June 12, 2009 Application received: June 16th Sponsorship Approved: July 15th, 2009 (ECAS became available the next day) Letter received re: sponsorship: July 20th, 2009 AOR Received from Buffalo: August 5th, 2009 Document request (state clearance): August 12th, 2009 Medicals received August 12th, 2009 Passport Request: October 5th, 2009 (via email only) Passport sent: November 16th, 2009 Visa Received: November 23rd, 2009 Landing: Dec 28! We're visiting his family in the US for Xmas. CIC told us to hold off on landing until we return, as coming back into Canada and having used his VISA but without a PR card, he may not be admitted. Another note, we didn't get the original passport request, as it was sent to a hotmail account and my husband has a gmail account. We only became aware of the request after I emailed the Buffalo CIC (early Nov.) and they then forwarded me the original request, only 3-4 days after my first email to them. Not bad. |

I think this for me - yes they did; our exlawyer interfered and we have to prove we have a committed relationship and that he intends to live with me.

Thanks for the advice.
Yeah, we intend to pay all fees right up front. Luckily he's only lived in Nevada, so he only has the one clearance to get. What we're struggling with right now is whether i should go there to get married or we should run the risk of him being denied entry for our wedding in June (which we'll still have regardless). |

Just submit all the required documents upfront including RLF. Have your state Police Clearance for all states where you lived more than 6 mos. This will reduce your timeline by about 2 months.
If possible, you can also check the status b visitng the consulate which gave me enough leads to get my case processed faster. Goodluck. |
