Dear Experts,

20 years ago, 1994, I landed with my parents and obtained PR status. However, I then went back to Hong Kong and worked and lived in HK for twenty years. During these two decades, I travel with my HKSAR passport to see parents every year with my family.

I don't know how my PR status is now. Would it be automatically be cancelled or expired? Somebody said if I entered Canada with other passport, my PR status will be terminated automatically.

Recently, my parents want me to join them so that I can take care of them.

Do you know if there are any ways to resume my PR status?
Or should I first given up my previous PR status and reapply again?

Thx

Dave

There is no such thing as "resuming PR".

You technically are a PR until your status has been revoked.

You seem to be in violation of residency requirement, so your status should be revoked when you attempt to enter Canada.

Or you can give it up and apply again.

Or you can hope that you enter Canada, live there for 3-4 years without going out, and then simply apply for another PR card.
