In Calgary, like the title says, and I mean jobs that have open LMOs, like the ones in this page (http://calgary.kijiji.ca/f-lmo-jobs-...0QQKeywordZlmo) and I am a foreigner without a work permit. This is the time of graduation of high school and university students, and so the place will be flooded with job seekers. What do you think?

I appreciate your help
Thanks

I know, but there is a temporary work permit, which takes 50-70 days to get, that is if a job is obtained.

What do you know about the situation in July in Calgary? Is it easy to find a restaurant job?

Thanks a lot

To obtain a work permit, your employer must first obtain an approved LMO. As part of this process, the employer must advertise the job and prove there were no Canadians to hire for the role.

I think you have your work cut out for you. First of all, I think it's going to be hard for an employer to prove they couldn't find a Canadian to hire for a restaurant job. Secondly, the LMO takes several months to process before you can even apply for a work permit. I doubt most restaurants will want to wait that long.

I got this from someone on www.boards.ie about this kind of jobs. He said "This is common enough. The hotel my better half works in does it. They'll apply for 10 open LMO's and then go about filling the positions from abroad. Its usually housekeeping.

I've also hear of it used to get machine operators."

Also someone said:

"I would have thought it would be almost impossible to get an LMO for a service job"

I replied
Is it because they are entry level jobs and it is easy to find Canadians to fill them?
Well in Calgary I read that the economy is doing well enough that Canadians do not need to work in these jobs, and this is why they are hiring foreign workers.

Thanks a lot for replying, mate

Hi echo198!!!

As I know about I think July is good for restaurant job. In these days mostly family enjoying their holidays. So restaurant owners need more helpers. Some thing is tough but nothing is impossible dear.
