I just have a work opportunity from a company. But they never hire foreign worker before. I'm helping them to figure out how long it will take to get LMO from HRSDC. Thanks a lot. |

Hi, The employer has to advertise for the position at the Canadian National Job Bank and a major daily or website for 14 days. Then s/he must provide a summary of the recruitment efforts done to show that no Canadian citizen or PR qualified for the job before s/he can apply for an LMO in your favor. http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/communications/advertrecrutment.shtml |

LMO processing may take about 6 weeks (that is after they had made the ads) and before you can work for them you would have to apply for a work permit, which may also take about the same time depending upon where you are applying for your WP. But if you are from a country whose citizens do not need visa to enter Canada, you obtain your work permit from the border closest to where you are. |
