It seems I'm not alone in my uncertainty about this requirement. I will email the CIC and see if I can get clarification as to what qualifies as a "Travel records and/or Records of Movement from all countries for which you have a passport or travel document."

Thanks, Eileen for your attempts to clarify the uncertainty about this requirement. Please keep us posted.

Interesting question. It seems you would want to request a PNR or Passenger Name Record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passenger_name_record

This is a request for general info on PNR agreements to the EU info commissioner:
http://www.asktheeu.org/en/request/information_on_pnr_agreements
Perhaps EU citizens could make a similar request for personal PNR info?

US citizens could probably use the FOIA request, though I imagine much of this info would be included in a typical CBP FOIA border/travel doc request, but I am unsure about other regions, governments or commercial entities. Info overload here, though it looks mostly US/EU-based: http://hasbrouck.org/articles/PNR.html

As a follow-up, I received an email response from the Embassy of Mexico, in which they sent me a scan of official border crossing letter that they received from Mexican authorities.

The responding authority is:

SECRETARIA DE GOBERNACION INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE MIGRACION
DIRECCION GENERAL DE CONTROL Y VERIFICACION MIGRATORIA

In my case the embassy forwarded an official request to this authority on my behalf, but from the response I understand that the regular path is to go through the official government tourism website at:

Hope this helps

Eileen,
thanks for this thread.
How did you get the CBP FOIA records from USA? please send me the link and template (if you have any).
I have travelled more than 10 times in last 3 years to USA (flight and car), so i would like to get the history.

thanks again!

See #5 at this link:
http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/resources-for-rq-recipients/resources-for-rq-recipients/

Two things:
1. RQ requests: "Travel records and/or records of movement from all countries for which you have a passport or travel document." If you don't have a US passport, you probably don't need travel records from the US Customs and Border Patrol.

2. CBP FOIA requests are massively backlogged. I have been waiting for 6 months. Many others have been waiting longer.

Eileen, thanks for putting this all together.

I've just submitted a Subject Access Request to the UK Border Agency. I'm not sure whether the information that they have (if any) will be accurate though - I'll let you know when I get the report back. Anyway instructions as to how to make this request can be found here
