Just got back from Oath. 2 hours (the oath itself is short) its all the formalities and stuff that took long. Anyways, also applied for my passport right after (had all the documents ready and gurantor pre-filled the form the day before, he just put the oath date as the date. No issues and stuff. So yeah, this was my experience. No RCMP officer at oath tho, and it was a bit lame. Maybe its just mine but the ones I seen online were more ummm nice. Anyways, the bestest luck to everyone, I'll be around still. Happy New Year all!

Congrats "Canadian" Alex!
Did they check your passports all over again during the Oath?
Also, can you briefly explain on how to prepare the necessary docs to apply for the passport?

Thanks.

Hey dossip,

Thanks, well altough they request you to bring passports with you to the Oath, they never even asked for it. They never asked for any IDs either lol. They took my landed paper, my PR card, they STAMPED the paper and gave it back, because we HAVE TO keep it, and the PR card gets destroyed, as we are no longer immigrants, we're Canadians as they said at the Oath. Preparing the documents for the Passport. Well let me tell you, I kind of over did it :-) So it was pretty hard to find a Citizen with a valid passport for a guarantour, who would actually give out his/her passport number. (So weird, that they request such information). Anyways, I got it all filled out to Oath date. Guarantour also dated it to the 30th of December. Anyways, all I left blank was the Citizenship Certificate number. I put that in. And my Certificate was made in 2011 March....(??? lol) thats the date you have to put on the application for the passport. The date when the card was made, not the day you actually became a citizen. Anyways, all they asked for, it the 2 photos (1 signed by the gurantour the other one blank), a drivers licence, the Citizenship Certificate, and 87 bucks. If you go there in person I guess they don't have so many security questions, it was quick (other then lining up for 1 and a half hour).  O yeah, it says on the application that the gurantour can only sign it if it is fully filled out, so do not tell them that you had it prefilled lol. They don't ask...I'm just saying, if by chance it comes up, your gurantour was at the ceremony with you :-) If you decide to apply by mail, then you also need 2 pieces of picture ID's photocopied and signed by the Gurantour (carefuly read instructions, on the application) but I personaly think that it is best to apply in person. Anyways, I'm gonna get banned for talking too much (off topic) :-) Good luck (you should be there in january, or february the latest. Best of luck!
Alex

No problem, Happy to help. By the way, the application form is also availeable online, but it has a huge flaw. In order for you to be able to print it (It has tto be validated) you have to have it filled out completely, so in other words you got to have all your gurantours info ect. Now if I'm not mistaken if its validated it also date stamps it, so... But as I said, I just walked in to Passport Canada 2 weeks before and picked up a bunch of applications, they're free. (Take at least 3 in case you mess something up) as I did lol. I was so excited It took 3 times to get all the info correct. Anyways, all the above only matters if you're planning to apply same day. If it's not urgent and stuff then you don't have to go torugh all the hassle with the pre-filling and stuff, or you can even mail it in ect. Me personaly not planning to travel any time soon, I just wanted to get it done and over with all at once :-)

Alex,

I have a few more questions,

1) Do you still need a guarantor if you go to the passport office to take photos?
2) When you fo to the passport office to apply, how long does it take to get the passport.
3) How many places in total the guarantor has to sign and put his passport number?
