Hi,
I have a valid open work permit till July next year. Can I extend it? If so does my employer get involved? Or can I manage this on my own. My partner is a student at McGill. He will also be applying for a work permit next year once his course is over. Does that make a difference to the application? Thanks |

Hi
1. You can only extend it if your partner gets a PGWP and is employed in a NOC A, B or O job If s/he doesn't have that position, when your work permit expires, you will have to stop working and apply for status as a visitor. 2. Otherwise your employer would have to advertise your position for 30 days in 2 publications plus the job bank, pay $1000 and demonstrate to Service Canada that there are no PRs/Citizens qualified for the position. |
