Dear Forum Members,

My PR card has expired in Jun'15. I havent been able to go back to Canada for personal reasons. Can any one guide me if I can apply an extension on the same OR need to apply afresh.

1. You have to apply for a new PR card, and have to be in Canada to do that.
2. Also it depends if you have met your PR obligations, residing in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period.
3. To return to Canada, if you are from a non visitor visa exempt country, you will need to apply for a PR travel Document from a CIC overseas office.
