CIC's website continues to list the time for issuing Permanent Resident Cards to new immigrants as 30 days. How long did you or your spouse have to wait after landing to receive your PR card?

My wife's data:
Landed May 20 2010
PR card not received as of July 7 2010

I was just wondering the same thing, since official provincial ID can't be issued here without it, and neither of us wants my wife carrying her passport around with her as ID.

I landed recently.

Landed- June 21, 2010

No PR card yet, obviously. It'd be amazing if i already had it. I expect to get it sometime in August. I was hearing it was taking around 6 weeks now.

that's what I've been hearing too, but the immigration guy at the airport told my wife 10-14 days from date of landing. Who knows?

I'm not really so concerned about when it arrives as much as I am about knowing at what time I should following up if it doesn't.

The site says 30 days so it's definitely not 10-14.

But realistically, I've seen this and other sites say it's more like 6 weeks. I'd give it 6-7 weeks and then call.

It sucks that your province won't issue ID without it. :(

yeah. In BC it doesn't matter that we have the passport with the PR visa inside, and the PR letter, you must have the PR card in order to get BCID.

Pain in the ass.

I can get ID here, but I want to get my learner's license. I need an eye exam though, and apparently there's a huge waiting list and I have to wait until like October :(

I landed 6 May and got my PR card on 23rd June, just in time for me to travel back to Hong Kong for a few weeks. I would say the average time is about 6-8 weeks.

audball, I rang the ontario driving licence office & i was told, if i get a letter from the licence authority here in Ireland & they give my full history of driving here then when i get to ontario i dont have to wait, i can do my test straight away. I got an international licence in the mean time so when i get there i can drive for a year on it before i have to do the test AGAIN! Just gives me a bit of time cas i'll be busy doing other stuff.
