My wife's hukou was never change and is currently single even though she has been in Canada for over 2 years.  In fact her hukou had not been updated for years before we got married.  The address she had in he hukou wasn't even owned by her aunt anymore.  We just submitted it with her still being single.  The marriage office did not even take the hukou book if I remember.  They were more concerned with my passport translation and my non marriage certificate from the Chinese Consulate in Calgary.   We also just submited notarized red marriage book documents with initial application.  This was a few years ago when it seems paperwork requirements were more difficult too.

don't worry about it--it will not matter one iota
the most important thing is that you make sure that you accompany her to the interview and make sure that she can answer questions about your personal life and about your past--and get her practicing english!
