    Posted: 15 Feb 2013 at 10:09am

My wife applied for her citizenship on 15 Nov 2011, and she did the exam on 16 Nov,2012 @ St.Claire Testing exam and we have been waiting since then for her oath ceremony letter and so far nothing and it is been three months now.

We are fine to wait more, but we are planning to travel overseas in late FEB for a month and we still do not know shall we travel or wait!

Is St.Claire testing center takes all this time after the test date to send the ceremony letters?

How much time do they give from the ceremony letter date to the actual ceremony?

Any one with the same scenario like ours and they have received the ceremony letter?

Dani

Application submitted: 15 Nov 2011
Test taken @ St.Claire: 16 Nov 2012.

Unfortunately this does sound like bad timing. That said, if all is well, it will probably be OK to telephone and discuss this with CIC, and if the oath ceremony needs to be rescheduled that should be OK.

Of course, if there are questions, if this application is being scrutinized more closely than an entirely routine applicant, for some reason, then travel abroad for a month now could have a bit of an influence. How much is impossible to guess, as it depends really on the nature of the questions giving rise to that closer scrutiny.

Unfortunately we have little to no insight about what goes on behind the curtains at CIC at this stage of the process.
Bureaucracy is what bureaucracy does, or When in doubt, follow the instructions. Otherwise, follow the instructions.

We have called the CIC and they advised that our application date falls under the delay time frame for the St.claire office. Did any one had the same issue like us?

How much time do they give fom sending the oath letter to the ceremony date?

Have a look at the below link:

From the trend, you can get some info.

Special kudos to edmonton2011 for updating it daily....Great dedicated job!

Would you recommend to ask for rescheduling the oath ceremony while we are traveling? If we do that, when do you think they will ask my wife for the ceremony again?

If she travels and comes back before the ceremony for instance, by two days, will they cause her any issues when shows at the ceremony? I think they may look at the Passport and see the recent stamp.

My wife still waiting since her exam on NOV 2012. We got a call from CIC in May to submit a translation for one of the passport pages which we already gave them when she did the exam and they said they could not find it in her file. We submitted the required translation by hand to CIC St. Claire.

So far nothing and we are not sure what to do. My wife does not fall under the RQ, but she may be treated like that

We contacted to CIC and they do not see comments on file. Some people recommended to speak with our MP and see if he can escalate within CIC.

What we should do?

There is absolutely no drawback to contacting your MP to ask them to request resolution of your wife's citizenship application. Why not do it? You are the MP's constituent, it is their responsibility to advocate for you. There is no potential downside.

Call the call centre and ask if her case is considered routine or not. She wasn't RQed but was asked to provide additional documentation, so not sure what track her application is considered to be in right now. If it's been more than 25 months/35 months (depending on whether it's routine or non-routine), the call centre should be able to email the local office and ask for an update.

And as Eileen has mentioned, your MP's office is another resource that's available to you and is an obvious next step.

Good luck!

We have contacted CIC again, and they said it is still in process and background check, although they did this stage in last year. I am not sure if this is the last stage or they will be more loops.

Now, her PR will expire next month, and we need to cross the border to the US, how can we do that with expired PR? Shall she apply for a new PR or wait for her citizenship??? PR cards renewal now take 4 months!!!
